September in Leysin: A Team Retreat Story

When planning a corporate retreat or a team workshop, the venue is not just a backdrop; it's a catalyst for transformation. Recently, we hosted a three-day corporate retreat for Haleon Group, and here are some of the testimonials that we got from our guests:

"I have to say this is a very unique venue. It is a spectacular view. A really cosy, warm environment."

At the time of their retreat, Leysin was under rain for a couple of days. Although the hiking and views were obscured for the time being, the team experienced something profound that went beyond the scenery that can be observed from the Vermont Hub, proving just how exceptional this venue is.

The height helps: at 1358 meters above sea level in Leysin, something shifts. As our guest noted:

"It's detached, it's separate. You can escape some of the real world’s pressures and emails, etc. When you put those things together, it's a great place to distance yourself from today and think about tomorrow."

This altitude adjustment helps teams psychologically distance themselves from the weight of deadlines, office dynamics, and daily stress. Here, surrounded by the Alps and the legendary "Oxygen of the Alps," they find the space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with their purpose.

Vermont Hub's architecture naturally creates an environment where teams can feel comfortable and more open. The expansive communal spaces invite connection, morning coffees on the terrace, collaborative cooking in the fully equipped kitchen, and evening conversations in the living area. Yet there's also room to retreat, with 12 rooms offering quiet corners for reflection and rest.

"There's the kind of expansive space, but also there's a focal point there. There's a kind of core where we can all get together (…) It's a flexible creative space."

Perhaps the most telling insight:

"I think it's an ideal space to kind of retreat and reflect and take a calm and longer view of challenges and issues. There's definitely space and time to do that, and this really helps."

Vermont Hub doesn't just host the perfect team retreat; it actively supports your objectives. The venue becomes part of the process. The sauna conversations. The kitchen collaboration. The mountain silence. The communal dinners where hierarchy dissolves and authentic connection emerges.

"I think it's also a place that supports community," our guest observed. "We've got plenty of room here. We're all congregating around in a fantastic location for dinner. The kitchen is close and we're involved in cooking as well.”

This is intentional. Vermont Hub was built in 1929 as a healing sanctuary, when people pilgrimaged to Leysin for the restorative alpine air. Nearly a century later, that mission continues. We've simply evolved from healing bodies to nurturing teams, communities, and creative visions.

The three-day rain test taught us something important: when a venue truly works, the weather becomes irrelevant. Because transformation doesn't happen on mountaintops, it happens in the connections formed, the conversations deepened, and the clarity discovered when you give teams the space to be vulnerable, creative, and human together.

As our retreat leader concluded:

"All in all, it's a creative space but also a reflective space."

That's Vermont Hub. Where teams don't just meet, they transform.
